One Of The Largest Reptile Shows Is Coming To Davenport - B100

'Show Me Snakes' is making a stop in the Quad Cities this weekend on Sunday, June 27th. You can catch them in Davenport from 10 am to 3 pm.

The whole family is welcomed to come out for a great day at the reptile show. Get ready to learn and explore with experts. At the end of the day, you may go home with a new pet too!

You'll have the opportunity to learn about reptiles and share your passion with this awesome team. You can also get your quality reptile feeders and supplies here while seeing a variety of different reptiles. The Show Me Reptile & Exotics Show is one of the largest shows in the region. The best part is that this is a safe and family-friendly event geared to educate and introduce people to reptiles and exotics.

Show Me Snakes' story is a great one too,

Show Me Snakes first show was held in October of 2015 at the District 9 Machinist Hall in Bridgeton, Missouri. This "bad idea" snowballed from that living room, to a great local show, into the national spotlight. The "Show Me Show" has since expanded incredibly with at least 25 shows a year not counting special events.

There are countless different events that have been created from local meet and greet, Reptile Appreciation Day, community service events, reptile training events, and unique private events upon request. That's not all either, they even have events adapted to suit the uniqueness of the public.

Show Me Snakes is so much more than just reptile events. They truly want to teach,

We have become advocates for many who strive to improve the reptile industry. We make a contribution with every community we serve and create a binding connection with it. We genuinely care about the quality of the reptile community and truly believe in what we are doing.

Admission is $6. Kids 12 and under along with first responders are free after 1 pm. More information about this event can be found here.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.

Hotel Davenport Demolition

The Hotel Davenport is located at 5202 Brady St. and was reportedly built in the early 1970s. Earlier this year it was decided that this hotel was no longer set to have guests.

According to the Quad Cities times, the Davenport hotel has faced a number of fires, along with safety and health code violations. This has led to the call for its demolition. I've driven past it many times and have seen that the building had clearly began to deteriorate.

It was scheduled for demolition earlier this year, and said demolition began in April. Many involved in this project are excited to see what the future holds for this lot in Davenport.

I drive past this spot every day for work, and over the last month have snagged some pictures of the demolition.
