Must-Have Dog Halloween Costumes That Are So Cute, It's Scary

It's one of the unwritten laws of nature: If you have a dog, you try to dress it up in a Halloween costume for pets. It just makes sense! Cute and cuddly, big and brutish, or any combo of adjectives in between — no matter what, there should be funny costumes for dogs, and sized specifically for them.
That would be so cute, it'd be spooky. Especially if you could match! After all, if the rest of us get to put on little outfits and go door to door asking for snacks, why shouldn't that extend to the fuzziest member of the family? Exactly.
So whether you're a Disney loyalist, like your costumes sweet and girly, or a secret third thing, you'll find something on this list to wrangle your four-legged friend (and possibly, favorite child) into.
Now, I can't guarantee that your pets will cooperate in getting dressed, or be willing to wear it for the entire length of the evening. Even so, these Halloween costumes for dogs are absolutely worth making the effort for.

A royal milliner is launching a paw-fect project for pet lovers!
Awon Golding — whose hats have been worn by Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, and celebrities such as Lady Gaga — recently launched the Haute Dogs calendar for 2024.
The adorable calendar, now in its sixth year, features a different rescue dog for each month of the year, all wearing exquisite (dog-sized!) couture hats.
"All the dogs featured have been saved from certain death," Golding tells PEOPLE, adding: "This calendar is showing the world that these needy dogs make gorgeous best friends and family pets — so many are still trying to find their forever homes."

This year, proceeds from Golding's calendar will go to Harbin SHS Animal Rescue, a U.S.-registered non-profit organization run by a small group of volunteers in China who have re-homed over 4,000 rescue dogs in the U.S. Alone.
The founders, Emily, Hayley, and Aimee, gave up their day jobs in 2016 after seeing a surge in animal neglect and abuse where they live in Harbin, — a city in northeast China. The group rescues dogs from the illegal dog meat trade, saving the pets from a trip to the slaughterhouse.
Rachel Trevor-Morgan, whose hats were worn by the late Queen Elizabeth, has donated a quintessentially English straw boater inspired by Henley Regatta, the prestigious annual rowing gala. The chic design is modeled by Alys, a corgi rescued from a meat truck and nurtured back to health by the charity before being adopted in the U.K. Other milliners involved in the project include Liz Crossman, Grainne Maher, and Jessica Broas.

Rachel Trevor-Morgan's design for Haute Dogs 2024Golding, who runs her eponymous label and heads the womenswear line at Lock & Co., was inspired to start the charity project in 2018 after she began trying hats on her beloved rescue dog, Stevie, in her East London studio.
Since its inception, the calendar has raised over $85,000 for international dog rescue charities and aims to raise another $12,000 with the 2024 edition.

Known for her contemporary and whimsical creations, Golding's designs are a favorite amongst the royals. Meghan wore a blue and black feathered beret design by the milliner on Christmas Day in 2018, and Kate chose a wide-brimmed hat by Golding for Prince Philip's memorial service in March last year, in addition to a blue pillbox style at Easter earlier this year.

All funds from the sale of the calendars will go directly towards veterinary treatment for dogs cared for by Harbin SHS. Calendars are available on the project's website and can be shipped worldwide (purchase before October 12 for an early-bird discount).

The Princess of Wales's royal milliner has created an adorable calendar filled with dogs wearing hats to raise funds for pet shelters.
Awon Golding is the famous milliner behind hats that have been worn by the likes of Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle as well as celebrities such as Lady Gaga. Recently, Golding revealed the sixth edition of the Haute Dogs calendar.
The cute calendar notably features a different rescue dog for each month of the year, each one sporting dog-sized couture hats designed by Golding as well as other notable milliners like Rachel Trevor-Morgan, Liz Crossman, Grainne Maher, and Jessica Broas. The milliner told People, "All the dogs featured have been saved from certain death."
She added to the outlet, "This calendar is showing the world that these needy dogs make gorgeous best friends and family pets — so many are still trying to find their forever homes."
Ms Golding said that each year proceeds go to a different organisation.
This year, proceeds will go to Harbin SHS Animal Rescue, a US-registered non-profit organisation. The operation is run by a small group of volunteers in China who have given over 4,000 rescue dogs forever homes in the US alone. The funds will directly support veterinary treatment for dogs under Harbin SHS care.
After witnessing a surge in both animal neglect and abuse in Harbin - a city in Northeast China where the illegal dog meat trade claims the lives of many pups - in 2016, founders Emily, Hayley, and Aimee gave up their day jobs to start the organisation. They've dedicated their efforts to preventing as many dogs as possible from being sent to the slaughterhouse.
The calendar is modelled by dogs that were saved by the charity including an adorable corgi named Alys, who can be seen wearing Trevor-Morgan's jaunty English straw boater inspired by the prestigious annual rowing gala, Henley Regatta. Harbin SHS reportedly rescued Alys from a meat truck and nursed them back to health before they were adopted by a family in the United Kingdom.
In 2018, after she began trying hats on her beloved rescue dog, Stevie, Ms Golding was inspired to start the charity project that raised awareness and funds for rescue dogs like her own.
The calendar has since raised more than $85,000 for international dog rescue charities and Ms Golding said that she hopes that the organisation will be able to raise another $12,000 with the 2024 edition.
