Foothills Animal Shelter Upgrades Its Cat Adoption Center
Foothills Animal Shelter has upgraded its cat adoption center thanks to a grant from Petco Love.
GOLDEN, Colo. — Foothills Animal Shelter has opened its upgraded cat adoption center.
The animal shelter, located at the Jeffco Fairgrounds, renovated its cat adoption center with a $70,000 grant from national nonprofit Petco Love.
Foothills Animal Shelter said it was able to expand its space, adding new kennels and more space to separate cats by personality.
The cat adoption center at Foothills is open to the public and no appointment is necessary.
"Thanks to the generosity of our partner Petco Love, Foothills Animal Shelter was able to remodel our Cat Adoption and Lost and Found Centers," said Connie Howard, executive director of Foothills Animal Shelter.
"The new, light-filled center features larger kennel spaces that create a more comfortable environment for our cats, provide better interaction with potential adopters, and allow for more visibility of our lost cats to help them find their way home. Thank you to Petco Love for helping us to create this beautiful and very functional space."
Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $375 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts.
"Our investment in Foothills Animal Shelter is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized," said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. "Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We launched Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses patented image-recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets."

Meanwhile, just as residents are reminded to check their smoke detectors' batteries during Daylight Savings, Straylight Savings encourages pet owners to ensure that their pets are not only microchipped but that the microchip information is up to date.
While there is no limit on the number of pets someone can get microchipped, all pets must be at least six weeks old, dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in carriers.
